This is a great improvement upon the previous Mortal Kombat game, that was also excellent. Mortal Kombat is back, and it is better than ever. And most importantly - it is back on PC, where it belongs.

A Mortal Kombat game that really reminds one of the old days. The finishing moves are graphic af, the graphics themselves are fantastic and the game play, especially the ladder, is awesome. The addition of a free upgrade from MK:X to MK:XL furthermore added to the experience, so this has been one of the best purchases from GD I've made.

To be fair, I haven't played Mortal Kombat since MK2 but wow! Awesome game, not to mention the FREE upgrade to Mortal Kombat XL!

The story is the best I've seen in a fighting game. Constantly switching between characters scene-to-scene. I feel like I've been caught up with all of the characters' story lines including the new characters.

Game play is great. Move sets are easy to feel out and memorize and characters move almost exactly how you think they would.

Graphics are beautiful. Cut-scenes are locked to 30Fps but the rest of the game seems well optimized. I have a fairly decent PC and the framerate never dropped below 60Fps.

A great game at a great price , as classic as always but in turn updated and remodeled. It is to buy , receive the code and not stop playing , unless the first day to have it.

Started to play for a short time. It is just a nice game with lot of possibilities. It makes a lot of fun and has nice graphics. Even the story is cool. I go on with my playing and just enjoy it......

Very classical game series, if you like traditional fighting games you cant go wrong with Mortal Kombat. It works decently well with game pad, its not as accurate with analog controller that it has being with old school digital joysticks like prostick 9000, or so but its still alot of fun and when playing against pad its same rules for all.

GFX is pretty nice and there is campaing's you can play alone as well.
With some story lines & videos, so this game is well worth of the price.

The PC version works well with the XBOX 360 controllers I have.
Great fun for couch co-op or -pvp.

Single player campaign has a good story and makes you play variable characters. Challenge towers, faction wars and online pvp and add longevity to the game. Extra characters are available as DLC, though I haven't seen a need to purchase those.

Always loved these kinda games, this one has great graphics which is nice, it just works with mates which is also bonus, easy to get into a game and fight your mates. Lots of content to work through, love the KO finishing moves!

Awesome game, but bad gameplay on PC. At least until you get an USB Controller. Then it is just Woo-hoo

The game is a lot like the older one just with better graphic and new characters, and also new tactical moves and gameplay.

You can use many hours on this game now and further on.

After a long time gaming it, you can get tired of it, because it fast becomes the same thing to do though. But else, it is a game with action and ofcouse brutallity.

Single player

MKX has a decent single player offering, with different towers you can go against. There are good cut scenes and endings as well as a terrific practice mode that has the frame data and kombos built into the game. It also has a krypt that allows you to have some progression as you play the game. If you want a decent single player fighting game this will scratch that Itch.

Online play

Contrary to popular belief - it is actually very good albeit with a few frames of delay compared to offline also because the "netcode" doesn't deal with unstable connections very well you want to have as stable a connection as possible. This may not make me sound like a very nice guy... no one likes to be told their QoS is bad by some know it all online... so you can help yourself to understand the health of your connection by using www.pingtest.net and then test to a server ~1600 miles away (not to yourself) and check for jitter on your line, if there is low jitter like under 4ms the online will work great provided you aren't trying to play someone else with an unstable connection.

Hopefully the "netcode" will receive further enhancements so that the fringe players that have some jitter will also be able to enjoy it but keep in mind it's never going to fix issues for people with 5-6 ms jitter or more.

So please test your connection before even trying online or to claim that online doesn't work. As for the actual game it is very accessible and easy to play in comparison to other popular fighters but in no way does it dumb down the game, the game is ripe with situations that are 50/50's and plays like a chess match.

Highly recommended as its currently one of the best fighters created to date and certainly the best MK in the series even with some remaining issues. The community on steam is really in the dark about what makes a quality gaming connection and a lot of people who claim to be knowledgeable but don't know Jack from Jill, do yourself a favor and listen to all my advice here before you decide to purchase the game.

If you both have no jitter and the latency is low you will have a good online experience.

Pros:

+ Great fighting action and kombo system
+ Great character designs
+ Best looking fighter on the market

Cons:

- Netcode doesn't like unstable connections (Input delay)
- Steam community is devoid of intelligence and toxic to the maximum
- Lags behind in balance patching (maybe not this is not relevant anymore?)

This could be the best fighting game with shiny graphics. I didnt experience any PC version flaws, probably the game was properly patched, what wasnt patched though is multiplayer. There is no proper matchmaking system, most of the time you will spend on waiting for an opponent to fight with and when do you finally find one, its mostly someone who have dozens, even hundreds of victories, so he is much more experienced and your fate is sealed, thus its not much fun playing uneven matches again and again.

Pros:

+ lot of characters
+ krypt stage for unlocking bonuses
+ responsive controlls (playing with gamepad)

Cons:
- unplayable multiplayer
- short story mode
- price of new fighters

This is the current-gen Mortal Kombat we all wanted: it’s smooth, mechanically sound, unbelievably gory, and looks great. It remembered me the old one, but improved in all its features. Great deal, i reccomend this game!

The 4 star rating is for a solid 5 stars for G. Dragons awesome sale right now, but minus a star for MKX's problems with a bad console port for the PC platform.

But for $14 US (approximate) it can just sit in my library until a solid patch comes out to address those problems.

There isnt much to say about mortal kombat,its very violent and gruesome, and humiliating your opponents is always great, the graphics are amazing and the finishers will make say OH SH!T out loud

But the game was poorly portedand it suffers some hitches and stutters and the multiplayer section is quite laggy.

The revamped game is super fun to play, though the pc port is a bit laggy on some settings. NR has promised patches that would address those issues. So if you like an overly gorey experience, this game is great for you!

If you were born in the 80's or 90´s, then you surely grew playing Mortal Kombat, you surely got shocked when you first saw a finishing move, because in the old times videogames weren't so graphic, long time passed since the first mortal kombat was released (i remember installing it with dozens 3.5" diskettes :P ) and still in this new version you can feel that great emotion when you play it.
Great game, great graphics, great variety of characters and.. come on... being able to play with predator or Jason Voorhees is priceless.

if you like blood and gore and decapitated skulls then this game is for you . i mean just be the name "mortal kombat" you know this game is going to be rough and indeed it . this series has really came a long way from pix-elated arcade game to this graphically masterpiece . i like this game actually . the stunning singleplayer/multiplayer . It feels like they actually put time in effort in this game
